HW9-Color Inspiration

Image
Color Inspiration Communication Arts July/August 2009 Pg. 93 I was attracted to this piece because of the slightly muted colors and the abstract of the water-like waves. This image has a somewhat analogous scheme and the yellow and blue compliment each other very well. These colors are muted but at the right side of the spectrum to still be vibrant.

HW8-Positive and Negative

Image
Positive and Negative GD USA October 2016 Pg. 58 This artwork shows positive and negative space with the leaves being positive and the space around them the negative space. In this advertisement the leaves (positive space) stand a great deal more than if the area around then was not blank negative space. Otherwise they would be lost in the background because of the similar tones in the foreground. It also creates a sense of balance with the blank space around the tree.

Symmetry

Image
Symmetry  CA Illustration Annual 57, May/June 2016, page 7 This image shows symmetry through a symmetrical balance. Although this image is not traditionally symmetrical through the leaning of both characters on the same vehicles and matching arm positions they have a sense of symmetry. This is very interesting way to use the formal elements in a creative way.

HW5-Rhythm

Image
Rhythm CA Illustration Annual 57, May/June 2016, page 7 This image shows rhythm though color and shape.    This image shows rhythm through the color of the landscape and the leaves. Rhythm is also shown in the shape of the leaves that is consistent throughout the whole composition. There is also a rhythm in the shape of the men in the image, they are both of similar body type.

HW6-Depth

Image
Depth CA Illustration Annual 57, May/June 2016, page 197. This image shows depth through a vanishing line into the horizon This image shows depth throughout the center of the image by having a vanishing point that moves out to the horizon which creates a great sense of depth. By having this triangularly shaped river we believe that even though this image is two-dimensional it seems like a three-dimensional landscape.
