This image shows depth through a vanishing line into the horizon This image shows depth throughout the center of the image by having a vanishing point that moves out to the horizon which creates a great sense of depth. By having this triangularly shaped river we believe that even though this image is two-dimensional it seems like a three-dimensional landscape.

Balance CA Illustration Annual 57, May/June 2016, page 197.  Showing asymmetrical balance through the large rectangle and the bold circle.    This image creates asymmetrical balance by having a large rectangle that takes up a large amount of the advertisement which is then balanced through the two circles in the vertical axis of the image. By placing these circles with the smaller shape closer to the rectangle and the bold edged shape farther it creates a balance. Also, having the highest circle be bold and the rectangle narrow-lined there is a large sense of balance there.

Unity CA Illustration Annual 57, May/June 2016, page 7.  Unity through repetition, color, and proximity.    This design shows unity through the repetition of the balloons and the sun-like balloon.The monochromatic colors also largely support the unity theme. The final example is the proximity of the of the shapes all right next to each other.

Variety I failed to get the information for the caption. I will get this ASAP.    This artwork shows a wide range of variety using color, lines, and texture.    The most obvious form of variety in this composition is color. There is a large spectrum from red to violet which makes the art very interesting and pleasing to the eye. The gradient colors from one line to another adds texture, we see many times many shades of green, blue, or pink. The gradients are then dimmed with the grey-scales throughout the image. They make the vivid colors even brighter but the image as a whole is easier on the eyes.    Diagonal, horizontal, and vertical lines pull your eyes through the entire composition so you see all of the different colors and gradients. They also give a three-dimensional effect, creating box and stair-like structures.   The final main element that shows texture is the media that was used to create this three-dimensional artwork appears...
